As a design and build consultancy company, we have the option to use either prescriptive or performance approaches to comply with the efficiency requirements of the British Columbia Building Code. The vast majority of builders in BC have pursued the prescriptive approach focusing on meeting specific requirements for individual elements such as for insulation, windows, furnace lighting, water heaters, and other equipment and systems. Unfortunately, the result of such approach can be a building that does not perform well as intended. Using the Energy Step Code, we employ innovative methods such as energy software, on-site testing, and use other tools to ensure that our design and the constructed building meet the requirements of the standards.
During permit, Enerhold helps the builders, developers and architects in all BC jurisdictions to prepare complete energy package which usually includes,P files,BC Compliance Report and Energy Modelling Reports.By performing mid construction blower door test,we make sure that the building meets the ACH targets.During completion,as-built files and reports will be prepared as one of the prerequisites to occupancy permit.
